Deirdre Alden

Deirdre Alden Councillor for Edgbaston Ward.

Deirdre has been an Edgbaston Councillor since 1999.

During this time she has served in a number of different roles on Birmingham City Council and is currently Shadow Cabinet Member for Clean Streets, Waste and Recycling, and is a member of the Co-ordinating Overview and Scrutiny Committee and the Standards Committee.

Deirdre lives in Edgbaston with her husband John who served as a Councillor for Harborne Ward for 33 years but has now retired. John and Deirdre served as Birmingham's Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress during 2003/4 and their son Robert is the Leader of the Conservative Group on Birmingham City Council.

LABOUR ANNOUNCE HOUSE BUILDING ON BIRMINGHAM’S PARKS

Birmingham’s Labour Council has announced a new policy to start building on parks in the city. Labour plan to take 8 acres EVERY YEAR from our city’s parks and use it for house building. So far they have not named which parts of which parks will be the first to go under the bulldozer.
